From September 8 to 10, 2025, Prof. Dr. Michael T. Rücker de, Nils Dyck, and Juliane Sperling de attended the 18th International Conference on Informatics in Schools (ISSEP)External link at Trier University.
In addition to exciting contributions on various current topics in computing education research, such as quantum computing and early childhood computing education, Valentina Dagiene, Tobias Kohn, and Cynthia Solomon gave interesting keynote speeches on both the history of computing education and future developments. Furthermore, an excursion to the vineyards followed by a wine tasting provided many opportunities for cross-border exchange.
On the last day of the conference, Juliane Sperling and Nils Dyck presented a survey instrument developed by the working group to measure the beliefs and self-efficacy of computing teachers regarding social issues in computing education. The accompanying paper, “Method Meets Mindset: A Survey Instrument for Teachers' Beliefs and Self-efficacy on Social Issues in Secondary Computing Education”External link, was awarded the Best Paper Award.
